Millions Of Mushrooms: Taisei Construction of Cypress recently completed a two-story, 253,000-square-foot growing, processing, packaging and shipping facility for Hokuto, Japan's largest mushroom grower. The project cost was not disclosed.

The facility, located in San Marcos, is Hokuto's first outside of Japan.

In the next two years, Hokuto said it expects to produce up to 6 million pounds of mushrooms for the consumer market.
The mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer was Cypress-based Ishii Engineering. The architect was Pal International of Los Angeles and the structural engineer was Brandow Johnson and Associates of Los Angeles.
